A bilingual edition.
This bilingual volume is the definitive collection of the poetry of Pablo Neruda, the 1971 Nobel Prize winner and one of the most profoundly influential poets of the twentieth century. His love poems are earthy and transcendent, and his political poems are the work of a man as incisive, impassioned, and ferociously intelligent as he was sensual. Ben Belitt has drawn the 138 selections from all of Neruda's major works, including the early volumes.

The Three Battles of Wanat : and Other True Stories / Mark Bowden. - Wydanie 2. - London : Grove Press, 2016. - XII, 474 strony ; 24 cm.
Ranging from war journalism to crime stories to profiles on influential leaders to pieces on sports, gambling and the impending impact of supercomputers on the practice of medicine, this collection is Bowden at his best. Pieces that will appear in the collection include, "The Three Battles of Wanat", which tells the story of a bloody engagement in Afghanistan and the extraordinary years-long fallout within the US military, "The Drone Warrior," in which Bowden examines the strategic, legal and moral issues surrounding armed drones, and "The Case of the Vanishing Blonde," which first appeared in Vanity Fair and recounts the chilling story of a woman who went missing from a Florida hotel only to turn up near the Everglades, brutally beaten, raped and still alive.

Eigbt O'Clock is a collection of thematically linked short stories that traces the course of one life through horrifying and tumultuous times. Yet it is the style of the writing itself - allusive, moody poetic, evocative - that draws the reader into Manea's very personal and very original fictional world: the internment camps of the Ukraine ("Death," "The Sweater"), the troubled return home after the war ("Weddings," "The Balls of Faded Yarn"), the lingering, unhealed wounds that reopen many years later ("The Partition," "October, Eight O'Clock," "The Turning Point"). Manea's writing is rich, enveloping, intense; his stories have the force and power of myth and are capable of sudden and surprising emotional shifts whose grace and beauty leave the reader breathless. When these stories were published in Europe, critics compared them to the work of Bruno Schultz and Robert Musil and saw in Manea an heir to Kafka.

The Covenant of Water/ Abraham Verghese. - London : Grove Press UK, 2023. - [8], 724 strony ; 24 cm.
Spanning the years 1900 to 1977, "The Covenant of Water" follows a family in southern India that suffers a peculiar affliction: in every generation, at least one person dies by drowning – and in Kerala, water is everywhere. At the turn of the century a twelve-year-old girl, grieving the death of her father, is sent by boat to her wedding, where she will meet her forty-year-old husband for the first time. From this poignant beginning, the young girl and future matriarch – known as Big Ammachi – will witness unthinkable changes over the span of her extraordinary life, full of joy and triumph as well as hardship and loss, her faith and love the only constants. A shimmering evocation of a bygone India and of the passage of time itself, this work is a hymn to progress in medicine and to human understanding, and a humbling testament to the hardships undergone by past generations for the sake of those alive today.
